Environmental stewardship, personal wellness, and applied science for student gardeners caring for their school grounds.

Terra BIRDS provides school gardening education for elementary, middle, and high school students across the Flagstaff Unified School District (FUSD). The school gardens program gives students the hands-on opportunity to learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) content and skills while developing a stewardship ethic on their school grounds. Terra BIRDS engages the natural wonder and curiosity of young learners to help them develop scientific literacy, improved personal wellness, and cultivate a continued sense of responsibility and appreciation for healthy ecosystems.

While the production of vegetables and fruit is a major focus of Terra BIRDS' school gardens, we are equally dedicated to the development of urban and suburban habitat.  We believe that all young people deserve access to wild spaces and opportunities to observe and appreciate native plants and animals.
